rich and martha brought john henry, "pushing two" as our friend Louise put it, over to spend the afternoon with us, amidst the wreckage of a little human curiosity 'n' drool machine.

In the evening, we went over to Dick's where he poured us champagne, white wine, and single-malt scotch, fed us on on smoked trout and croutons, grilled fish and breadcrumbs, salad with thin slices of ham, and some kind of tart or pie with coffee ice cream but i was so drunk and stoned and sated by then that i can't remember much else. i tried fighting the spins on the couch, and then punted, put b in the hands of louise and jeff (the rest of the party), and then drove home singlemindedly fixed on bed. i was glad, though, that b woke me on getting home.
