Paying bills, some a month overdue. I've been living comfortably off the proceeds of a bestselling computer book I wrote in 1995 and for a while now bill-paying, check-writing has felt like a heavily ritualized, symbolic affair. Only when the balance in my account drops close to zero does the filling out of the form - pay to the order of whom, the date, the amount in numerals and plain English, the memo, the signature, the entry in the register, to be retyped into Quicken later - take on any real meaning in my mind. I do have enough to cover this, right?

Also filled out the modification form at Internic to move the ezone.org domain to our new host in San Francisco.
